Our story

Fossick Studio started in a regional Victorian lockdown, with two mums, four small kids underfoot, and time to think about what we actually wanted to make.

We've always loved beautiful little things — the kind of leather satchel a four-year-old slings on to go feed the chickens, the soft boot she'll wear until she outgrows it and her sister inherits it. Heirloom stuff. The kind of thing you keep.

In the beginning it was mostly buying and selling, learning what worked, watching what our kids reached for. Design was always the intent. Five years on, we're a small-batch leather and footwear studio designing pieces we'd want our own children to wear, with a deep love of natural materials, earthy palettes, and the slow rhythm of making things properly.

Made with our kids, tested by our kids

Every product gets play-tested in our backyard before it gets to yours. Our kids are the toughest reviewers we know. They climb, dig, ride bikes, find puddles. If a bag won't survive a Saturday with them, it's not ready.

We both love photography, and most of our shoots are just our children playing together — no posing, no pressure, just kids being kids while we catch the moments. 

The studio

Our studio smells like leather. There's a felt pin board on one wall with the next drop sketched out — a side-buckle satchel, a soft little T-bar, a tan boot with a stitched-down toe. Samples of pebble grain and soft waxed matte leather pile on the bench. The kids wander in and out. It's small, it's ours, and it's where every Fossick piece starts.

Made in India, by hand

Finding the right manufacturing partner took us a long time. Most leather workshops want large orders and won't engage with a small studio designing four drops a year. We wanted the opposite — a small team, real craftsmanship, and the patience to make something properly even if we were only ordering a handful at first. We eventually found a workshop in India who understood what we were trying to do, and we're slowly, carefully growing the relationship as we grow.

Four drops a year
